I always get the Salmon Burger. My goodness it's tasty and delicious! Their smoothies and wellness shots are worth it. You get quality food/drinks for the best prices around. Enjoy and make sure to call in for faster service. I am looking forward to them expanding to other areas in the metro/surrounding areas!
Looking for a healthy option in Decatur is not any easy task by any means but I was determined to find something healthy in a 1 minute radius. While scrolling through Yelp I discovered Moorish Medicine. Located right off of I-20 Wesley Chapel Rd in a shopping center with plenty of parking. The food is freshly made to order so be prepared to wait. This was my first time and staff were very helpful and patient while I went over the menu before placing my order. I decided on an eye opener with coffee, vanilla, agave, almond milk, granola, rolled oats, I substituted the cocoa for flaxseed. The smoothie was delicious and it kept me full for hours. I also ordered the spinach salad with red cabbage, red onions, beets, craisins, strawberries, pecans, & croutons. The salad was large and very filling.
Moorish Medicine has salads, veggie wraps, salmon burgers, alkaline water and wheatgrass shots. I can't believe this small, local establishment has been around for five years. There's free parking and you know it's good when there's a 30 minute wait and no-one minds! I came for the smoothies. They're priced right at $6 for 16 ounces, $7.50 for 20 ounces or $10 for 32 ounces. The bases are OJ, apple, carrot juice, almond milk or coconut milk. They actually juice whole fruit instead of pouring it from a carton (like Updog.) Then you pick 3 out of 14 delicious fruits. They were out of pears so I chose kiwi, lime and orange. Two veggies are included ranging from the predictable spinach and kale to succulent sweet potato and okra! Almonds were my protein but you can add sunflower seeds, chia, hemp, peanut butter etc. Dates, honey and agave are your choices for sweeteners, nothing artificial here! Super charge your smoothie for an extra $1 with maca, spirulina, wheatgrass powder, goji berries, bee pollen etc. Or add sea moss for $2 (when available.) They even had 'gotu kola.' I've never heard of it and that's saying a lot considering that I'm a smoothie connoisseur :) The end result was creamy, fresh, pure deliciousness! They should have named a holiday after my smoothie, it was so good I forgot it was healthy! It was 10x better than my homespun Vitamix blends. In fact, I gulped it down so fast I forgot to take a pic! One area for improvement would be to list which ingredients are organic (with an asterisk.) The cashier was friendly but clueless assuring me that the spinach is organic because 'it goes bad after two days.' Most smoothie places don't have all organic ingredients or they wouldn't be affordable. However, customers need to be informed to avoid ordering the "Dirty Dozen" produce with the most pesticides. "A side of cancer-risk with my smoothie" said no-one ever :(. Lastly, I deducted a star because masks are not required and social distancing is not enforced. The place was packed and not even the employees wore masks which puts us all at risk, them most of all. The pandemic is far from over and our communities must do better. Otherwise, Moorish Medicine can get all my coins!
I ordered a green smoothie and it was absolutely delicious! I only wish they sold smoothies in plastic or reusable bottles so I could have more throughout the week. I also got a salmon burger and while I got it to go, it looks good. I'll definitely visit here again. Very happy to see a healthy food option in Decatur.
